Bien que le jeune violoniste anglais Tim Crawford soit encore étudiant de premier cycle, il est déjà un musicien recherché et expérimenté et il se produit régulièrement aux festivals en Grand Bretagne et en Europe.
Il étudie actuellement à la Guildhall School of Music sous la tutelle d’ Alexander Janiczek, ayant reçu une bourse pour la totalité de ses études. Précédemment il était à la Junior Royal Academy, Londres, tout en étudiant parallèlement avec Simon Fischer. Il a remporté de nombreux prix à des concours pour jeunes musiciens à Londres, et a participé à des masterclass des violonistes Mi-Kyung Lee, Daniel Hope, Andras Keller et Philippe Graffin à des stages en Europe.
Il a été invité aux Open Chamber Music Sessions à Prussia Cove en 2014 et 2105, dont le point d’orge fut sa performance de l’arrangement de Alban Berg de l’adagio de son Kammer Konzert pour piano, violon et clarinette. Il a récemment interprété le 2ème Concerto pour violon en ré majeur de Mozart à Wembley Arena, le « Poème » de Chausson avec le Ernest Read Symphony Orchestra, et le Concerto pour violon de Glazunov avec le Camden Symphony Orchestra.
Entre 2014 et 2015 Tim était membre du Quatuor Celan et bien que le quatuor n’existe plus, il joue souvent avec l’altiste Tim Ridout et le violoncelliste Tim Posner ( Teyber Trio à Cordes ) . De plus, il joue régulièrement avec Arcangelo, un ensemble formé de musiciens qui excellent sur des instruments modernes d’époque, sous la direction du chef d’orchestre Jonathan Cohen. Tim joue sur un violon de Ferdinand Gagliano, c.1770, et sur un violon de Nicolo Gagliano, c.1750, pour les oeuvres d’époque.
The young English violinist Tim Crawford is currently a student of Alexander Janiczek, and attends the Guildhall School of Music on a scholarship for the duration of his studies. Previously, he studied privately with Simon Fischer while attending the Junior Royal Academy.
Tim was recently awarded first prize in the Under 18 North London Festival Recital class, joint-second in the D'Addario String Prize 2014, Brent Young Musician of the Year 2014, and won all available prizes at the Junior Academy of Music. He has participated in masterclasses with violinists Mi-Kyung Lee, Daniel Hope, Andras Keller and Philippe Graffin on courses across Europe.
Although still studying for his undergraduate degree, Tim has been invited to the International Musicians Seminars Open Chamber Music Sessions in Cornwall in both 2014 and 2015, a highlight at which has been playing Alban Berg’s own arrangement of the Adagio from his Kammer Konzert for Piano, Violin and Clarinet with clarinetist Matt Hunt and pianist Ieva Jokubaviciute. Having recently performed Mozart’s 2nd Violin Concerto in D major at Wembley Arena and Chausson’s “Poème” with the Ernst Read Symphony Orchestra, he looks forward to a performance of Glazunov’s Violin Concerto with Camden Symphony Orchestra in March 2016.
From 2011 to 2014 Tim was a member of the Celan Quartet. Although the quartet is now inactive, Tim regularly plays with the other members throughout the UK and Europe, often as the Teyber String Trio with violist Timothy Ridout and cellist Tim Posner. Tim is also very fortunate to have the opportunity to regularly play with Arcangelo, a leading ensemble comprised of players who excel on both historical and modern instruments, under the direction of founder and artistic director & conductor Jonathan Cohen. Tim plays a Ferdinand Gagliano, c.1770 and a Nicolo Gagliano c.1750 for historical work.
