miriam liske-doorandish, violoncelle/cello

Née en 1994, Miriam Liske-Doorandish est une jeune violoncelliste américaine, qui s’intéresse passionnément à la recherche de la diversité et de la largeur dans la musique et également dans sa vie. Elle a commencé à jouer du violoncelle à l’agé de deux ans, avec sa mère Lisa Liske-Doorandish, et puis sous Hans Jensen, Jonathan Kramer, et Bartholomew LaFollette, son professeur actuel. Lauréate à de nombreux concours aux Etats-unis, elle va continuer ses études musicales à Londres pendant 2012–13.
Elle s’est produite en tant que soliste et avec orchestre, aussi bien qu’en collaboration avec des musiciens celtiques, folkloriques, et de jazz. Musicienne de chambre de grande éloquence et vitalité, elle a obtenu des bourses pour plusieurs festivals de musique aux Etats-unis, et s’est aussi produite avec des membres du Quatuor Carmina de Zurich.
Miriam Liske-Doorandish is a young American cellist with a keen interest in pursuing diversity and breadth in her musical education as well as her life. Born in 1994, she began her cellistic endeavours at the age of two with her mother, Lisa Liske-Doorandish, and has since worked with Hans Jensen, Jonathan Kramer, and Bartholomew LaFollette (her current teacher). Miriam has spent the past year dividing her time between Europe and the U.S., and plans to continue her musical education in London during 2012/13.
Her performing experience ranges from solo recitals and performances with orchestra to collaborations with celtic, folk, and jazz musicians.
A chamber musician of expressive vitality, Miriam has received scholarships to summer festivals such as the Soundfest Chamber Music Festival (working with the Colorado Quartet) and Bowdoin International Music Festival (with Steven Doane and members of the Ying Quartet). She has also collaborated and performed with members of the Zürich-based Carmina Quartet.
Miriam has won top prizes at numerous competitions including the Tennessee Cello Workshop Annual Competition, the MTNA Competition (state division), and most recently, the Glenn Miller Scholarship Competition. This coming autumn, she looks forward to appearing on the U.S. radio programme NPR's From The Top with pianist Christopher O'Reilly and cellist Matt Haimovitz.
