Né en 1995 à Cologne, Dominic Chamot a commencé à jouer du violon à l'âge de 5 ans, et il a appris le piano tout seul deux ans plus tard. Ses premières leçons de piano ont commencé à l'âge de neuf ans avec Ruriko Goto-Lutz, puis il a étudié sous Sheila Arnold à la Hochschule für Musik Köln pendant sept ans. Depuis 2014, il est l'élève de Claudio Martínez-Mehner à la Musik Akademie Basel, où il a obtenu la meilleure note dans son dernier récital pour sa licence.
Dominic a remporté un total de dix-sept prix et prix spéciaux lors de compétitions nationales et internationales en Europe. Ces prix, ainsi que sa participation régulière à des masterclasses avec des pianistes renommés tels que Ferenc Rados, Matti Raekallio et Dmitri Bashkirov, l’ont amené à une carrière active en tant que jeune musicien de chambre et soliste. Il a participé aux plusieurs festivals en Allemagne et s'est produit en tant que soliste avec des orchestres dont le WDR-Sinfonieorchester, le Sinfonieorchester Basel et le RSO Wien.
Il a été généreusement soutenu par le Jürgen Ponto-Stiftung et le Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben et, en décembre 2017, il a reçu un « Studienpreis des Migros-Kulturprozent ».
Dominic Chamot was born 1995 in Cologne. He started to play the violin at the age of 5 then taught himself the piano two years later. He took his first piano lessons aged 9, with Ruriko Goto-Lutz, then studied for seven years with Sheila Arnold at the Hoch-schule für Musik Köln. Since 2014 he has been a student of Claudio Martínez-Mehner at the Musik Akademie Basel, obtaining the highest mark in his final recital for his Bachelor of Arts degree.
Dominic has won a total of seventeen prizes and special prizes at national and international competitions in Europe. These, along with regular participation in masterclasses with renowned pianists such as Ferenc Rados, Matti Raekallio, and Dmitri Bashkirov, have led to an active career as a young chamber musician and soloist. He has peformed in festivals in Germany and performed as a soloist with orchestras including the WDR-Sinfonieorchester, the Sinfonieorchester Basel, and the RSO Wien.
He has been generously supported by the Jürgen Ponto-Stiftung and the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, and in December 2017 he was awarded a “Studienpreis des Migros-Kultur-prozent”.
