Marsac, 30 June 2012
It gives us enormous pleasure to be able to send out, at last, details of the first Musique à Marsac Chamber Music Festival, which will take place in and around Marsac between 14th and 19th August this summer. We are fortunate to have as artistic director Alasdair Beatson, “one of the best chamber music pianists in the business” (the Glasgow Herald). He has chosen both an outstanding group of musicians and an exciting programme of three concerts presenting some of the finest chamber-music works ever written.
We do hope you will be tempted to come along to as many of the concerts as possible – as well as the extra treats we have planned: a reception for Friends at the Marsac chateau, an exhibition of recent watercolours by John Gill, and a candlelit meal outside at Jill Davidson’s superb farm, Sausse Nord. The venues are intimate, and audience numbers will be limited to 50 people, so advance booking is really important.
The Festival is entirely self-funded, organized by us through the non-profit Association we have set up, Musique à Marsac. The musicians have generously donated their time and performances and we have committed to paying their expenses – and to giving them a memorable stay in this divine corner of la France profonde. It would be wonderful if you would like to help us do this by becoming a Friend of the Festival - we’d be happy to send you details, or you can find them here on the website.
The level of music will be high and the atmosphere festive, and we do hope that you will be tempted to share it with us.
