Ditta Rohmann est née à Budapest en Hongrie, où elle a commencé ses études de violoncelle à l’âge de sept ans. Elle a fait ses études dans sa ville natale, puis au New England Conservatory à Boston chez Suren Bagratuni et de nouveau à Budapest, à l’Université de Musique « Ferenc Liszt » où elle est devenue l'élève de Miklós Perényi. Après son premier diplôme avec mention obtenu à Budapest, elle a continué ses études à Bâle chez Ivan Monighetti et en meme temps elle a été stagiaire à l’Opéra de Zürich. A Bâle, elle a obtenu un diplôme de concert et un autre de soliste. Ses professeurs de musique de chambre sont aussi très importants pour elle, surtout Péter Nagy, Ferenc Rados et András Schiff.
Ditta se produit comme soliste et comme musicienne de chambre. Elle possède un vaste répertoire qui couvre presque toute l’histoire de la musique. Plusieurs oeuvres contemporaines pour violoncelle lui ont été dédiées. En 2012, elle a été lauréate du Concours International « Bach » à Leipzig.
Avant la naissance de sa fillette, elle a enseigné à l’Université de Debrecen, en Hongrie. Actuellement, elle prépare son doctorat à l’Université de Musique « Ferenc Liszt » et elle donne des cours de maîtrise. Son enregistrement des Suites pour violoncelle solo de Jean Sébastien Bach est publié chez Hungaroton.
Ditta Rohmann was born in 1983 in Budapest and began playing the cello at the age of 7. She studied at the New England Conservatory in Boston from 1993–94 with Suren Bagratuni. After returning to Hungary she was a student at the Franz Liszt Music Academy from 1995–2005, earning an Artistic Diploma with honours as a pupil of Miklós Perényi. From 2005 she played two seasons at the Zurich Opera on a scholarship, simultaneously completing her concert and soloist diploma with distinction at the Basel Music Academy in Ivan Monighetti’s class. Since 2008, she has combined doctoral research at the Franz Liszt Academy with a teaching position at the University of Debrecen in Hungary.
Ditta Rohmann gave her first recital in Boston at the age of eleven, and has been playing concerts as a chamber musician and soloist throughout Europe from an early age. Her regular duo partner is Emese Mali. Ditta has also performed with several chamber and symphony orchestras, including the Basel Symphony, Mendelssohn, Liszt, and Schengen chamber orchestras, and with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe as a guest.
Ditta has appeared on several radio, television and CD recordings for labels including BMC, Hungaroton and Swiss DRS. She has participated in many international festivals, including Kronberg, Lucerne, Santander, and the Prussia Cove International Musicians’ Seminar with such renowned musicians such as Boris Pergamentschikow, Steven Isserlis, Bernard Greenhouse, Natalia Shakhovskaya, András Schiff, Ferenc Rados and Frans Helmerson.
Ditta has a large repertoire, ranging from the Baroque to the music of today. She has had several pieces dedicated to her, including one by Barnabás Dukay. She received a prize from Artisjus in recognition of her work with contemporary music.
She plays a Jean-Baptiste Salomon cello, dated 1770 Paris.
