Premier corniste du Scottish Chamber Orchestra, il poursuit en même temps une carrière active comme soliste et comme musicien de chambre. Il a joué des concertos sur BBC Radio 3, Deutschlandradio, and Arte TV (« Rolando Villazón présente les stars de demain »). L'année passé il était l'artiste en résidence du quatrième Lammermuir Festival et il a fait son Wigmore Hall début avec le Brahms Trio et le Quintette pour cor et cordes de Mozart.
Un des rares musiciens qui ait maitrisé à la fois le cor moderne et le cor ancien, il est parfaitement à l'aise dans tout le repertoire, que ce soit baroque ou la musique du 21ème siecle, et il commence à jouer un rôle important dans le monde de la musique contemporaine. Cette année il était soliste principal au festival de la British Horn Society, il a été invité à donner sa première conference-récital, et il a été récemment nommé Professeur du Cor à la Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

As well as being Principal Horn with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, he pursues a busy career as soloist and chamber musician. He has performed concertos on BBC Radio 3, Deutschlandradio, and Arte TV ("Rolando Villazón présente les stars de demain"), and last year he was Artist in Residence at the Lammermuir Festival and had his Wigmore Hall debut playing the Brahms Trio and Mozart horn quintet.
Alec is one of only a few musicians to have mastered both modern and period horns and is entirely at home in repertoire from the baroque through to the 21st Century. He is also an emerging force in the field of contemporary music. Featured soloist at this year's British Horn Society Festival, he was invited to give his first lecture recital, and was also recently appointed Professor of Horn at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He studied in Cambridge, London, and Berlin, and was awarded a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship in 2014.
